Three walks

Oviedo to Santiago de Compostela

Walk to the ocean - Santiago to Muxia and Finisterre

Oviedo to Santiago de Compostela

May 23 - June 4, 2022 (with optional walk to the ocean).

This 12-day hike takes us through some of the most beautiful and rural countryside of Northern Spain. Definitely my favorite route.

Walk to the ocean - Santiago to Muxia and Finisterre

June 5-9, 2022. The Santiago to the End of the World path is gorgeous - as you get closer to the ocean the scenery changes, the air is brighter, and that first view of the ocean after walking for weeks on land will be a sight you'll never forget.

Things you need to sign up for

Sacramento Pilgrims

Sacramento Pilgrims is a huge group of past and future pilgrims who regularly meet for social and educational get-togethers. They offer free classes on how to pack for the camino, what to expect, etc. They also have fabulous lectures and potluck dinners which will satisfy your post-camino blues (more on that later). Click on the links below to sign up for their listserve and their Facebook page.

American Pilgrims on the Camino

American Pilgrims on the Camino (APOC) is a great resource for information about the camino and is where you can get your Pilgrim Passport before you leave.

APOC website

Facebook - Sacramento Pilgrims

Facebook will be an invaluable resource whilst you're on the Camino - in addition to wanting to add your new friends, a lot of information is shared that you'll want to know about whilst you're walking. I've created a link for you below but you just search for "Sacramento Pilgrims" in Facebook.

If you have a Facebook account be sure to join the American Pilgrims on the Camino page - a lot of active information is shared while you're on the camino and it's a great resource.

WhatsApp

If you don't already have/use WhatsApp, then please download it to your smartphone and create an account (it's free). It is a text messaging app that runs on wifi - not cellular. Most of you will be only using the free wifi in Spain, rather than cellular which can cost an arm and a leg, so this app allows us to keep in touch with each other. In addition, it has GPS  geo-tagging so if you get lost, we can literally find you or you can find yourself (LOL).
